The South Iredell Agricultural Mechanics department is a place where students bring ideas to life and develop skills that will serve them for years to come. In the wood shop, students start by earning their OSHA certification, ensuring they understand workplace safety before diving into hands-on projects. They then begin their journey into carpentry and learning foundational woodworking skills. These skills include measuring, cutting, assembling, and finishing through practical experience. Students work with a variety of tools and materials and gain confidence in their craftsmanship. Beyond carpentry, they are exposed to other essential trades within the agricultural mechanics field, including construction techniques and equipment maintenance. This hands-on approach not only builds technical skills but also fosters problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity, Preparing students for future careers in agriculture, skilled trades, and beyond.
