Aquaponics Lab
The Aquaponics Lab at South Iredell High School provides students with a hands on learning environment focused on sustainable agriculture. In this lab, students raise fish and grow plants in a connected system where fish waste provides nutrients for the plants and the plants help filter and clean the water for the fish. Through managing this system, students study water chemistry, plant health, and fish care while learning how natural cycles support food production. The lab helps students understand resource conservation and modern agricultural technology, preparing them to think critically about the future of sustainable food systems.
